BIG CHANGE: Name and blog image!

You might be asking your self 'why isn't the blog called LipGloss CandyFloss anymore?'

Over the past week I've wanted to change the name to Dressing Table N.Ireland... today I did! The change is because when I started my blog last month I had a different view on what I wanted my blog to be about, I thought it would be beauty products reviews and make-up BUT theses so many bloggers already doing that and I don't wanna just be another beauty blogger. The fact that my blog is still very new and only getting started I thought that now is the perfect time to make big changes,

I want to be able to blog about a range of topics: photos/storys/etc that inspirer me, interest me and of course beauty and fashion but beauty and fashion in Norther Ireland.
 
I'm from Northern Ireland, and I wanna embrace where I'm from into my blog! Think of Dressing Table N.Ireland as a mix of; beauty and fashion in Northern Ireland, beauty products reviews and my life journey!

I'll explain the reason behind the name Dressing Table N.Ireland...
In my bedroom I have a dressing table that I've had all my life, so yes I've practically used it for sixteen years. Today I store all of my beauty products in the storage part and apply my make-up at it every morning. I want my blog from now on to be the online vision of my dressing table: some place that's mine, that can express myself with make-up and beauty, store photos of my life and keep everything that's precious to me.

I didn't want to  start a new blog from scratch because I didnt want to confuse you and my other readers and the posts that I've witten when it was called LipGloss CandyFloss are still relative.

I've changed the Twitter name etc and a new email will be coming soon...

I know iv been doing themed weeks this month but from now on I'm not going to plan out what I'll be blogging, I'm going to 'go with flow'! But I promise to blog EVERY DAY! I'm so exited about my 'well sort of new blog'  and where it will be in the near future. I hope you're all going to be on this journey of my blog and my life with me.

Shopping: Internationale Sale

Just home from a little bit of sale shopping! I seen in the Internationale shop window that they were having a big sale... I'm glad I went in! This with top with a black lace Peter Pan collar was only £4! From £9.99 because Internationale prices are never that costly to begin with... I can't wait to start trying on outfits because I know that I'll be able to wear it with jeans or dress it up with a blazer.

OLD BLOG- Get Ready With Me: 4th July make-up Summer day!

I use Carex hand gel in aloe Vera 1st to make sure my hands are clean before I start my make-up. £1 in Superdrug.

As its Summer here in Northern Ireland, I use Solait face sun protection SPF 30. From Superdrug for around £1.

The 1st make-up product I use is Collection lasting perfection, under my eyes and spots. Around £3

The foundation I decided to wear to day is Maybelline Fit Me in my Summer Shade 130 for when I'm tan (in Winter i use shade 125 because my skin is lighter) This also has SPF 18 which is added sun protection for my skin. 

I'll be wearing sun glasses most of the day, so my eye make-up simple! I love Maybelline colour tattoos and I usually wear this as a base for the rest of my eye make-up but today I applied Eternal Gold all over my eye lid. 

Curled my eye lashes! I'm always afraid of pulling my eye lashes out, thank god it hasn't happened yet...

Rimmel stay matte powder all over my face to keep it matte. I've been used this for over a year and love it! I used to use a shade called SandStone, but now I use Transparent because it doesn't add another layer to my make-up, which when powders do add colour the overall appearance can look caked.

To add some colour to my face I used Elizabeth Arden cheek colour Tea Rose but only lightly on my cheeks and jaw bone.

On top of my Tea Rose by Elizabeth Arden I lightly applied Bourjois blush in shade 54 Rose Frisson/ Frosted Rose. I love this blush for days like today when I don't what my blush colour to stand out but some added pink colour and a little shimmer to brighten my face.

OLD BLOG- Product Review: St.Ives Apricot Scrub - 2-8th July Skin care week

Hi everyone welcome to LipGloss & CandyFloss for skin care week!

Today is the first review for skin care week here on the blog: St.Ives apricot scrub.
I have chosen to review this product first, because it's important to have fresh and clean skin before you use other skin care products or before you start applying your make up.

I have teenage skin, but it's improving, my skin type is oily skin with spots and some blackheads around my T zone. For years, I have been  looking and trying for new products to help me control the oil and my spots. I can honesty say that I've found the product which i'v been hoping for! I have used facial washes, face masks and lots of others, trying to find the perfect face wash for my skin. I've found it!

I was shopping in Superdrug about two months ago, at this time I had already used St.Ives refreshing facial cleansing wipes and loved them (You'll find out all about them in my review tomorrow) so when I seen that St.Ives had a scrub I wanted to try it out!



I can't remember how much I paid but I've been getting information about the price online; prices below.

Tesco= £3
Superdrug= was £3.99 now £3
Boots= £4.29
Target= $3.29
Walmart= $3.27
Superdrug also sells it in a 30ml travel size, for £1.20

I have included U.K and US prices because a lot of LipGloss & CandyFloss readers are from the US. As you can see the price in the U.K ranges from £3 to £4.29, which is usually the price from face scrubs or washes.

Product Review: St.Ives Apricot Scrub, Blemish Fighting

When I first picked up the bottle I read that it is for my skin type, 'oily/blemish prone skin'. But the three main reasons why I bought this scrub (other than the fact that I had tried and loved their facial wipes) 

• Oil free. which means I won't be adding oil to my already oily skin.
• 100% natural exfoliants. I always try to use as much proucts with natural ingredients because I know that it's not too harsh on my skin.
• Salicylic acid. This helps fight spots and blemishes on my skin. 

As far as i know the scrub it self is from the seed of the apricot; that it really cleans every pore! Trust me this is a deepest cleansing scrub I've used. But don't worry! It cleanses and lifts away excess oil without stripping your skin or leaving it dry. 

They say to use it three to four times a week, I've been using it Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. But some days I wake up and my skin doesn't need the scrub or I feel one of my other face washes would be better for my skin that day.

Overall I love this product and so does my skin! I highly recommend this to any one with oily or teenage skin, as I had helped my skin to control the oils on my T zone and clean my pores to pervent blackhead/ spots.

Hello everyone, I hope you had a fun June!

First of all, I'm sorry that I didn't post last week... But i have a been planning my surprise for you!

I started LipGloss & CandyFloss last month (11th June) and had no idea that I would fall in love with blogging, sharing my thoughts and opinions on beauty products with all of you. So far, i have been blogging about reviews on products and beauty interviews.

In this time, I have realised the direction that I want to take LipGloss & CandyFloss. I thought i had started a fashion and beauty blog... But I have decided, my real passion for blogging is beauty and make-up. But that doesn't mean I don't like fashion any more, don't be crazy! I don't plan on cancelling my monthly Vogue Subscription any time soon. I just find blogging about new products and writing reviews on make-up, more fun than blogging about fashion, at this present time anyway. Yes, there will still be beauty interviews as normal.

 But I have an idea for July... Themed weeks! This means, that each week in July, the blog posts on LipGloss & CandyFloss will have a theme. Of course, they'll be about beauty products, don't worry I won't be having shark week like the Discovery Channel.

Below is each week and the themes!

• 1st-7th = Skin Care Week

• 8th-14th = Nail Polish Week
• 15th- 21st = Hair Products Week 
• 22nd- 28th= ???

You might be thinking 'What theme is 22nd-28th?' That's the fun part, you chose!

OLD BLOG- Product Review: MUA Lipsticks

Everyone loves a  bargain! It's true fact that people won't spend more than they need to... But when it comes to make-up there is high end, middle brand and (as Americans call it) drug store. Make-up brands are placed in order of price and some times you do get the quality of what you've paid for...

But not with MUA lipsticks!

I have been buying MUA (Make-up Academy) products for over a year and I love every product that I have bought. The best part of MUA is that all products are under £7! Which is crazy because some other make-up brands products start at £7. I remember when I first started to buy from MUA every product was £1 but now there is a bigger selection of products, which has lead to some being sold more than £1. Their colour nail polish is still £1, they are honestly the best quality and long lasting. I couldn't ask more from the nail polish especially when they are only cost £1.

 MUA is only sold in Super Drug Uk but don't worry their website sells all of their products and ships world wide http://www.muastore.co.uk/index.php/ 




Most recantly I have bought three lipsticks from MUA shade 5, shade 12 and shade 15 Juicy. 
Overall I love each lipstick! I can't ask for more from the quality to the long lasting finish. They keep my lips soft through out the day and on the lips the colour is true to what the lipstick colour is.

Shade 15 Juicy isn't my usual lip colour! I love and only wear pink lipsticks/ lip glosses. As theses lipsticks are only £1, I bought it as I have nothing to lose...
 It's a nude lipstick with pink as the main colour and doesn't have any glitter. So far i have used it as an everyday lipstick when I'm not wearing too much make-up. Just like the rest of the MUA products I love this! I didn't think I would because its not my usual choice of lipstick but I have wore it a few days and the quality is amazing for only £1.



                                       
Shade 5 is a lovely pretty light pink with shimmer. Again I have no complains about this lipstick, the shimmer is just the right amount to add shine to the lips not doesn't make them look like they're covered in glitter either. The best part about this lipstick (other than the price) is that I'm able to wear it with any make-up look.




Shade 12 is the most eye catching of all three. This is my favourite and the one I have wore the most! The colour is a Barbie pink with shimmer. Don't worry, the shimmer is just the perfect amount, like the shimmer in shade 5. This lipstick does look its best when I have full face make-up because that balances the brightest of the lipstick.

OLB BLOG Product Review: Herbal Essences Sensuously Smoothing Intensive Mask

Hi! For the first time on LipGloss & CandyFloss I'm going to review a hair care product;  Herbal Essences Sensuously Smoothing Intensive Mask. I'll be honest and tell you that I didn't do any research or had read about it on other blogs...I bought it because I have been using Herbal Essences products for about 3 years and I trust the brand and their products.

                                          

                                          

I want to start using more hair care products because I'm going on holidays (3 weeks tomorrow) and want to make sure that my hair will be protected from the sun, the heat and washing it everyday!

 I was shopping in my local Tesco, just buying a few things, when I seen the Herbal Essences Sensuously Smoothing Intensive Mask. The bright orange packaging is very eye catching and hard to miss! It was also on offer from £5 to £2.50: so I thought it was a great time to buy and try using before I go on holidays!

Herbal Essences Sensuously Smoothing Intensive Mask have different masks for different types of hair. I bought 'for dry/ damaged/ fizzy hair' because underneath my hair is fizzy and my hair may become damaged while I'm on holidays. 

The smell is what I love about this product! And the smell stays in my hair for a day or two after its been washed and I've used the mask. On the packaging it says that it includes 'mandarin and pearl extracts' so I'm guessing that's what the smell is... 
I have used the product three times over the space of two weeks and each time I left it in my hair for about 5mins to let it work its magic. After my hair it did feel softer and underneath was a little less fizzy. 

Overall I'm disappointed with this mask because I was hoping that their would be more effect on the overall condition on my hair. I will be using till I buy a new hair mask but I won't be buying this again.

OLD BLOG- Beauty Interview with: Kimberley/ Rubenesquex3

I'm posting twice today because I'm so excited that Kimberley (also known as Rubenesquex3 on her YouTube channel as a beauty vlogger) agreed to work with LipGloss & CandyFloss by answering a beauty interview. I have been following her channel for about four months and love watching her videos because she very funny and has a honest view on the beauty products. 

1.Favorite make-up brand drug store and high end?

I'd have to say my favorite drugstore brand would definitely be Maybelline. I'm never disappointed with their products and the packaging is always super fun! As for high end, I think I'm going to go with the stereotypical answer of MAC. The amount of eyeshadows and lip products they have to choose from is insane and I'm always happy with the quality of their product.

2.Your most recent beauty product that you have bought? Your opinion.

I've been really good recently and I haven't purchased that many products!! A few weeks ago however, I bought one of the lipsticks from the Maybelline 'Vivids' collections (I believe it was the color Vibrant Mandarin) and I'm completely obsessed! I'm usually a neutral kind of girl when it comes to my lipsticks but for some reason I'm loving all the bold & bright colors from Maybelline!

3.The nail polish that you wear the most often? 

This is probably the most difficult question anyone to ever ask me! I wear certain polishes depending on the season, so right now I'm loving the pastels from Sally Hansen's 'Hard as Nails' line. Her polishes are pretty much a staple item for me around this time of year- right now I have on the color 'Coral Reef' and I've been getting tons of compliments on it! The best part? It's only $3 and it's better than most of my high end polishes.

4.Favorite online shop for clothes/fashion? 

To be honest, I don't shop online too often. I seem to have bad luck with finding the right sizes online and I always end up returning everything. 

5.The main products you use in your skincare routine?

Istart off with my X-Out Shine Control in the mornings to help reduce the oil in my face during the summer. As for a face wash, I use the Clean & Clear Morning Burst (...at night, lol) and that usually takes off most of my makeup but I'll use makeup wipes (Target Up & Up brand! Woo!) to take off eye makeup that may still be left on my face and I finish with Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer to keep my skin hydrated. I've used the combination of products for about a year now and I have no complaints!

OLD BLOG- Product Review: China Glaze- Pink Voltage

Hi everyone! Sorry that I didn't post yesterday i was busy sorting my room and shopping but don't worry I bought loads of new products to try and review for you.

 Today I am reviewing nail polish which is my favourite thing to shop for: I love the rows of nail polish rainbows! I was shopping in Sally's and picked up three Chain Glaze nail polish. The best part was the offer of buy three get one free; always nice to save money. The first nail polish I'm reviewing is Pink Voltage. (I will be reviewing the other two...after I get time time to wear them)

Chain Glaze- Pink Voltage 

Cost - £5.49 (Sally's UK)

Amount - 14ml

As you may know I love pink! Yes I'm one of those girls... I have my blonde hair and blue eyes to prove that it's in my blood to love anything and everything pink. But it was the brightness of this colour that attracted me to the bottle. 

Applying the nail polish was easy. Two coats were needed. Short drying time. Overall a simple nail polish to apply with no problems until I seen the finish was matt... I love long glossy nail so I was annoyed to find out that it was a matt nail polish. More so because the word 'matt' isn't anywhere on the bottle! So I hated the polish from the beginning to be honest. But I still loved the colour because it was bright and a lovely pink.

 I have been wearing this nail polish from Monday night (it's now 12:30am Wednesday morning. Yes I should be sleeping...) and I have grown to enjoy having matt nails because its something different and I want to find more nail polishes with a matt finish. The nail polish hasn't chipped yet and still looks great but it's only been one full day so I don't know yet how long it takes for chipping to start (I'll tell you when I find out) 

Overall I love the end result and quality of this product and can't wait to try the other two.

1. Favourite make-up brand drug store and high end? 
I love anything that smells incredible however, Lush (www.lush.com) won me over instantly. The fresh handmade cosmetics are incredible. Everything from their Curly Wurly Coconut Shampoo to Blueberry Face Masks; I'm in love. Their products transport you to another hemisphere just with the smell and you feel vibrant, revitalised and ever so radiant after using them.

2. Your most recent beauty product that you have bought? Your opinion?
Calvin Klein 'The One' black mascara - It applies perfect and even coverage without even trying! I also love that it is long lasting, waterproof and never smudges.

3. If you had your own make-up brand what would you call it and why?
I am honestly not sure! I am terrible with coming up with names. But definitely a word or phrase that conveys 'fresh, radiant and organic' 

4. Favourite online shop for clothes/fashion? 
Considering I have my own online clothing store -www.borntobechic.com.au I'd be lying if I didn't say mine was my favourite.Of course the perks of owning your own online clothing store is that you get to go shopping every week but get paid to do it! 

5.The nail polish colour you wear the most? 
Turquoise - I have finally found the perfect shade by Australis called 'Sweet Pea'

1.Favourite make-up brand drugstore?

My favourite would have to be Maybelline because whether it is face or lips they always have quality products. I think overall they have the best range of products.

2.Your most recent beauty product that you have bought? Your opinion?

Surprisingly it's been a while since I've made a beauty purchase,but most recently I picked up a NYX blush in Terro Cotta. I've been loving it, it's the perfect bronzy glow for Summer

3. If you had your own make-up brand what would be the main/well known product? Why?

My brand would definitely be most known for it's lipsticks! If you're a follower of my channel you know that I'm a huge lipstick lover and I'd focus my line of cosmetics on the perfect lipsticks. 

4. favourite online store for fashion?

I love shopping online at Forever21, they have so much more stuff than in stores, they always have great deals and it's always on trend!

5. The main products in your skincare routine? 

I'm not huge on skincare, but I couldn't be without my Cetaphil Gentile Skin Cleanser and my Cetaphil moisturizer. I have super dry skin and they fit really well into my skincare routine

OLD BLOG- Product Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid

 902 Fuchsia Flash

When i think of Summer beauty and fashion the first thing that pops into my head is bright colours!

This Summer so far I have fell in love with pink all over again (I didn't think it was possible) So when I seen that Maybelline has a new line of bright lip sticks I wanted to try them! The one that I have been using for the past two weeks is 902 Fuchsia Flash: very bright neon pink. 

The first thing while applying Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in shade 902 Fuchsia Flash i noticed was just how colourful and how much the neon colour stands out (not the natural 'no make-up' make-up look on any level).
Other than the colour; they're moisturising, feel soft and comfortable on my lips, and last longer than I thought it would throughout the day (saying that of course I still had to reapply after lunch etc)

OLD BLOG- Product review: Garnier Moisture Match- Shine Be Gone

Garnier has a new face moisturiser range... you might be thinking "Another moisturiser? God no!" 

But there's a twist... 

Trust me on this one!

Everyone (well 'we' know) knows that there are different types of skin, no surprise there, and that different types need different products. Rimmel Stay Matt foundation for combination/oily skin, Rimmel Wake Me up foundation for dull/normal skin and Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation for luxury skin! 

Garnier understands different skin types leads skin with different needs. Welcome Moisture Match into your beauty world! Their new tailor-made moisturiser range which includes five moisturiser each for different skin types; from normal to oily.

My Review: Garnier Moisture Match- Shine Be Gone

The reason why I chose Shine Be Gone over the others to try for myself and review is because I have combination/oily teenage skin. So I'm always looking out for new products that can help control the oils, keep my face matt for longer than half of the day and a good price! 

Information about Shine Be Gone-

Price - £4, but its on a discount in Superdrug for £2.98, I'm not of the date that the discount ends so pop into Superdrug ASAP.

Quantity - 50ml. Not too small not too big...perfect size.

Smell - green tea because thats included in the ingredients. The overall smell is clean and fresh. 

Added information - 24H hydration, mattifies skin and suitable for sensitive skin.

I have been using Shine Be Gone for over a week now and so far I'm happy with the outcome. My skin is a lot softer and throughout the day I can see that the oils in my T zone keep at bay for most of the day. It is quick to absorb which is handy when I'm applying my make-up in a rush because I don't have to wait long at all for the moisturiser to set in my skin. The one bad point I will say (but it's not even that bad) is the claim that it gives 24H hydration because i don't see my skin hydrated a whole day after I've applied it but thats just me and i never believe any products that claim to be more that 12H etc.

This months Company magazine (July 2013) has a page all about Moisture Match, what skin type you have and two free samples of the products to use and try! 

OLD BLOG- Welcome to Lip Gloss and Candy Floss

Hi! Welcome to my blog. Which i've started on 11th of June 2013.

Before we go any further I'll tell you a little about LipGloss & CandyFloss. I've started my blog with only four days till my Summer - Four more days! Only two more GCSE tests left geography and maths (they've saved the best till last)- that means for the next two and a half months ill have a lot of free time to do what i want, so I'm planning on spending a good bit of that time finding ideas and products to tell you all about on LipGloss & Candyfloss.

The reasons why I chose the title LipGlossCandyFloss?
'lip gloss' is apart of the title to make sure you/other readers know that it's a make-up review, fashion loving , girly blog. You understand, right?
 'candy floss' is apart of the title to show...the cuteness and candy floss reminds me of pink and unicorns (To tell you the truth I have no idea why the title includes 'candy floss') but it rhymes!

I'm Hannah by the way! Why have i started blogging? I've been reading blogs and watching fashion/beauty videos on YouTube for over a year now and i enjoy learning tips and finding new products from the beauty gurus. For a while now I've wanted to try blogging out for myself. It looks like a fun hobby and its a great way for me to share my thoughts, views and opinions on products etc.

I can't wait to get into the swing of writing and start!
I'm planning to include-

• Writing reviews on new make-up and beauty products
• Writing about the new ranges in high street shops and online stores
• My weekly fashion/beauty inspiration
• My weekly favourite YouTube.com fashion/beauty related videos 
• A list of my monthly favourite products 
• And of course there will be a few weird very random posts! Sorry in advance...
